With the launch of the tickets just over a month ago it has been reported that already 1.09 million tickets have been applied for according to the official ticketing website and outlets of the Bank of China.

 

This is very encouraging for the organisers of the XXIX Olympiad who are intent upon making it the best yet of the modern games. In the month since April 15, 2007 there were some 886,000 registered visitors to the official web site demonstrating a massive interest in the event. There is every indication that the system for handling ticket applications is working well in order to meet both the domestic and world wide demand. Currently, applications have been received from 130 countries abroad.

 

The Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games (BOCOG) has stated that seven million tickets will be made available, 25% of which will be for overseas visitors to the games. Meanwhile, it should be noted that the deadline for the first phase of the Olympic Ticket Application is June 30, 2007.
