☉ Brief Intro:
Built in September, 1991 and opened in July, 1998, Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) enjoys a good fame as one of the world best airports. It covers a total area of 1,225 hectares (3,027 acres), equipped with a passenger terminal of 570,000 sq m (681,737 sq yards), two 3,800-meter-long (4,156 yards) runways and 102 gate positions. Served by 60 airlines to over 140 cities (including 40 inland Chinese cities), HKIA ranks the world fifth busiest airport in passenger transports and the top in international cargos. An important hub, it is also a preferable gateway for foreigners to get into China mainland.
☉ Facilities:
Shops: Shopping at HKIA is considered as an indispensable part of a HK travel. The duty-free commodities served by over 150 shops within the Restricted Areas are not only appealingly cheap but on a wider diversity than those in such hot shopping areas as Tsim Sha Tsui and Causeway Bay.
Restaurants: Specialty coffee shops, bakeries, bars, snack bars and restaurants can be found in either the Restricted Areas or the Non-restricted Areas.
Airline Lounges: There are eighteen lounges of different airlines equipped in the Departures Halls (Level 6-7), with the opening hours differing.
Airport Lounges: Located in the Level 7 Departures West Hall and the Level 6 Departures East Hall, the airport lounges provide a wide range of services of food, movies, magazines, etc. at the charge of HK$ 250 per person.

Internet Facilities: Wireless internet services can be enjoyed by LAN-card-equipped laptops throughout the terminal, charging on time. 170 powerphones are distributed in the terminal building as well as the Ground Transportation Center for passengers to surf on internet, with charges being equal to the normal telephones. Free internet services can be found in the malit-media lounges (Level 6) and the Northwest Concourse (Level 6).
Smoking Lounges: For the convenience of smokers, the passenger terminal is equipped with 12 smoking rooms, seven of which are located on the Level 6 Departures Halls and five on the Arrivals Halls (Level 5).
Nursing Rooms: Considerate services of the 19 nursing rooms throughout the passenger terminal are 24 hours available.
Medical Center: Located at Room 6T009, 6F, the medical center provides basic healthcare services as well as emergency visits. Chemical shops of Watsons can be found on both the Departures Levels and the Arrivals Halls.
Car Parks: The three car parks, i.e. Car Park 1, Car Park 4 and the Sky City Car Park, can accommodate over 2,400 cars. With Car Park 1 and Car Park 4 being available for hourly, daily and monthly parking services, the Sky City Car Park only provides long-term parking with the minimum of 3 days.
