Sand Lake is 56 km (35 miles) north of Yinchuan. Being a world of desert and lake, it is an ideal place for bird watching, sand slide and cableway slide. The cultural relics excavated, which are of high value, include gold and silver wares, tablets, stone horses, human-shaped stone bases, jewelries, coins, weapons and etc. There are still many mysteries to be discovered. The West Xia Imperial Tombs is now a world-famous scenic spot.

West Xia Museum is the first of its kind against the West Xia Imperial Tombs and vividly shows the splendid history and culture of the West Xia Kingdom (1038-1227). The museum houses typical cultural relics like stone horses, human-shaped stone bases, tablets, porcelains, Buddhism sutras, Buddhism paintings, statues of Buddhas and arhats, reconstructed models of pagodas and murals which highly embody the cream of grotto art of the West Xia Dynasty
