It is reported, as one of the three Olympic Villages for the
Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, the
Qingdao Olympic Village will finish its construction at the end of 2007. During the Olympic Games and Beijing Paralympics, it will offer athletes and officials the best service.
Covering an area of 100,000 kilometers (25 acres), the Qingdao Olympic Village is situated in the Qingdao Olympic Sailing Center. Quite near to the Competition Venue, the village is composed of five main buildings including the dwelling district, activity area (international area) and the region of operation.
Containing 430 rooms, the dwelling district is a place where athletes can live comfortably, dine, handle official business, hold meetings and relax; The activity area which has been used in 2006 Sailing Competition is the communication location for over 600 athelets and officials from over 60 countries to communicate. Post offices, banks and other service establishments can be found here; In the region of operation, there are caller center and parking lot.
On July 27th, 2008, the village will be officially opened (14 days ahead of the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics) and be closed on August 27th, 2008 (three days after the closing ceremony of Beijing Olympics). On August 30th, it will open again serving for the Beijing Paralympics.
